Park View Community Association is situated in the Sixth form block of the Community School. By day, members of PVCA are able to use the indoor Bowling facilities and the Weights and Fitness Room (provided that it is not being used for a school class). In the evening the classroom upstairs are taken over for use by a variety of adult evening classes whose ages range from 19 to 99 (though those over 100 are not barred!). Some evening classes also take place at the North Lodge site. The Community Association offers a wide range of courses for adults, many of which you can join partway through the year. The programme changes term by term according to demand.

Art and Craft Courses include:
Lace making; Drawing for the Terrified; Stitch Club; Sugar Craft and Fancy Confectionery; Petals and Potions; Calligraphy for the Cautious; Card Craft and Memory Books; Creative Stitching; Christmas Crafts; Christmas Confectionery; Patchwork and Quilting; Dressmaking; Flower Arranging.

Computing Courses include:
Computing for the Terrified; CLAIT; Plan and Book Your Holiday on the Internet; Personal Spending Planning; Computing for Fun; Digital Photography; Get Yourself Published; Word Processing.

Complimentary Therapy and Beauty Therapy Courses include:
Stress Management; Manicure and Nail Art; Nail Technology.

Language Courses include:
French for Travel; Beginners French; Brush Up Your German; Spanish, Beginners Japanese, Beginners Italian; Italian Conversation.

Personal Development Courses and Exercise include:
Confidence Building; Tai Chi; Yoga; Keep Fit; Aerobics and Healthy Lifestyle; Gents Keep Fit; Return to Exercise (40+); Tae Kwan Do.

Dancing Courses include:
Salsa Dancing.

General Interest Courses include:
Forensic Science; Basic Law for the Individual; Toddler Taming; Creative Writing; Trace Your Family Tree; Islam - What Muslims Believe; Fly Tying; Introduction to Psychology; Deaf Sign Language; The English Ghost Story; Dyslexia Support.

Fees vary according to number of hours of each course. Some courses are offered free to members of PVCA. Membership costs �7.50 per annum (�4.00 for concessions or a Family Ticket is available for �20.00 for two adults and up to four children).

Keeping Fit Through Exercise at PVCA

BADMINTON - Club and courts available for hire at specific times;
FOOTBALL - All weather pitch available for hire;
KICKBOXING - Classes include fitness, self-defence, and body conditioning (age 5 and upwards);
TAI CHI - Ancient Chinese system of exercises in posture, breathing, and focusing the mind to build vital energy and strengthen the body;
TAE KWAN DO - Beginners classes in the Korean art of self-defence for adults and children;
RETURN TO EXERCISE FOR 40+ - Tone up in a gentle way;
STEP TONE AND SHAPE - General aerobic work out.

Casual Use / Facility Hire

Basketball; Badminton; Netball, Table Tennis; Five-A-Side Football; Weights / Fitness;

Childrens' Activities at PVCA

For a membership fee of only �4.00 per year, children are offered tuition by experienced and qualified staff in football, gymnastics, trampoline coaching, Youth Moves, and Dance Moves. During school holidays, Park View works in conjunction with Chester le Street District Council, Fair Play, and Sunderland AFC to ensure youngsters have a wide variety of holiday activities.
